Ian began his journey in Complete Dentistry with Dr Peter Dawson in Florida. He learned from Rosenthal, Spear, Dickerson, and Kois in the emerging field of cosmetic dentistry, and learned from Pascal Magne, Didier Dietschi, and Newton Fahl on minimally invasive composite dentistry. Coming into the 21st Century, he began involvement with Domingo Martin and Alberto Canabez of the FACE orthodontic group, and later began working with master technician, Przemek Seweryniak CDT, and Cosmodent.

Ian opened his current private practice, Buckle Advanced Dental Care, in 2004 where he concentrates on aesthetic and restorative dentistry. Alongside running his practice, he ran Dawson Academy courses in the UK, taught the first Dawson Academy Digital Courses with Lee Culp CDT in North Carolina, and TMD continuum with Henry Gremillion at LSU.

While Ian loved his time as the Dawson Academy, he has since left to further develop complete dentistry digital workflows and expand occlusal philosophy. So, he began teaching complete digital dentistry courses, which then led to the launch of his own company, Complete Digital Dentistry Education in 2025. Ian balances his time between treating patients at his private practice and sharing his expertise through educational courses. He says this approach keeps him on the leading edge of both disciplines.
